Founded in 1966, the Miami Dolphins have a storied history as the ninth expansion team of the American Football League (AFL). The franchise joined the National Football League (NFL) in 1970 following the subsequent merge of the two leagues.
To this day, the Dolphins are the only team in NFL history to record a perfect season, remaining undefeated in both the regular season and playoffs (17-0). Stationed in South Florida, the Dolphins currently hold 13 AFC East division championships, five AFC titles, 24 playoff appearances, and two Super Bowl championships.
